India Venture Capital (VC)-Investor Connect platform for EU start-ups

 

The Delegation of the European Union to India in collaboration with Global Business Inroads, Enterprise Europe Network, and Particip is launching a India Venture Capital (VC)-Investor Connect platform for EU start-ups. The India VC Connect is a virtual pitch session on 23^rd April, 2021 showcasing the most innovative European tech start-ups with globally applicable products and solutions to Indian investors. The promising start-ups will be curated based on the sectors of interest and the investment criteria of the Indian investors. EU startups will have the opportunity to pitch their innovative solutions and funding requirements virtually, post which we will be facilitating one-on-one discussion between the start-ups and the VCs who would like to have deeper discussions and explore an investment.  

Europe has a fast growing start up ecosystem with start-ups keen to internationalise and have globally relevant products and solutions. Today the best innovators and the next unicorns can come from any part of the world and this is your chance to connect with European start-ups from the sectors of your interest. The last decade has seen unprecedented growth in funding, jobs, and valuations. The European startup ecosystem has seen a record inflow of capital in the past years. Cash and talent are now more widely available than ever before. European is now home to 128k startups, +5.000 VCs, +1.3 million startups jobs, 164 unicorns.

We are building this Indian VC connect platform with the aim to connect Indian VCs, Corporates, Angel investors to EU start-ups and build capacity of Indian investors and EU start-ups on the opportunities for investment and growth. While some Indian investors already have some experience investing in international start-ups, some may want to understand the opportunities, risks and challenges better. This investor session is taking place within the framework of discussion between business, finance and policy where there is an understanding that a unicorn or global start-up can be found anywhere in the world, but they will need global markets and investors to grow.  As a Platform we would like to bring these opportunities closer to you and also help with understanding any risks or challenges you foresee in investing in European start-ups. The start-ups will be curated based on the investment criteria of the Indian investors such as:

• Technology-based startups
• Large addressable market
• Need to have an MVP with a USP
• Have existing customers
• Strong founders/team
• The scalable and capital-efficient business model
• Ticket size: Angel/Seed Stage and Series A (Euro 50K – 2mil)

European startups are invited to send in their pitch decks (based on the guidelines below) by  12^th April 2021 to be considered for the pitching session. 

The pitch format: 7 min presentation + 3 min Q&A

What to include in the deck (not more than 10 slides):

• About the company
• Value proposition
  • What problem does your product / service / technology solve?  – what is the key USP?
  • Market potential / opportunity – local and international
• Business model / Go-to-market plan
  • Current / existing customers
  • Where all do you currently operate  - any international presences  
• About the team / founders
• Investment:
  • Have you raised money previously?
  • Funding amount that you are raising.
  • Minimum ticket size.
  • No pre-money valuations are needed if you don't want to share.
  • Other investors, who have already committed.
  • A tentative date for the closing round.
